  • 1/4 cup Dulce de Leche (storebought or homemade)
  • 2 oz dark chocolate (finely chopped)
  • 2 oz heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add vegetable oil, buttermilk, hot water, eggs, and vanilla; beat until smooth.
  4. Divide the batter into prepared pans and bake for about 35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Cool the cakes in pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks.
  6. For the frosting, whisk egg whites until soft peaks form; gradually add brown sugar until stiff peaks form. Mix in butter and dulce de leche until smooth.
  7. Frost the cooled cakes and prepare the ganache by heating cream until simmering; stir in chopped chocolate until melted.
