  • ½ cup very cold heavy cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon chai spice blend
  • 1 heaping cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a food processor, pulse together flour, sugar, baking powder, chai spice blend, and salt. Add cold butter and pulse until mixed well.
  3. In a measuring cup, whisk together cold cream and eggs; add to the flour mixture until just combined.
  4. Transfer dough onto a floured surface, shape into a disc, wrap in plastic, and chill for 30 minutes.
  5. Roll out the chilled dough to about 1 inch thick; cut into desired shapes.
  6. Brush scones with reserved egg wash before baking for about 20-22 minutes until golden brown.
  7. For the glaze: Whisk powdered sugar, chai spice blend, vanilla extract, heavy cream, maple syrup, and salt until smooth.
  8. Once scones cool slightly, dip the tops into the glaze and let set before serving.
