  • 2 medium onions (sliced)
  • 1 cup chickpea flour
  • 1 tbsp nutritional yeast (optional)
  • 3/4 tsp ground cumin
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp lime juice (or lemon juice)
  • 1 green hot chili pepper (finely chopped)
  • 1 tbsp parsley (chopped or cilantro)
  • 3 tbsp oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Peel and thinly slice the onions; set aside.
  2. In a bowl, combine chickpea flour, nutritional yeast, cumin, salt, turmeric, water, lime juice, chili pepper, and parsley. Whisk until smooth.
  3. Stir the sliced onions into the batter until fully coated.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Drop spoonfuls of the mixture into the hot oil.
  5. Fry until golden brown on both sides (about 2-4 minutes per side). Repeat with remaining batter.
