  • 1 cup salted butter (room temperature)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ½ cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream (divided)
  • 8 ounces milk or dark chocolate

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, cream together salted butter and powdered sugar until fluffy. Gradually mix in flour and vanilla extract until combined. Press the mixture into a greased baking dish and bake for about 20 minutes until golden.
  2. For the caramel layer, melt additional butter with corn syrup and granulated sugar over medium heat. Stir continuously until boiling; allow to boil for one minute without stirring. Remove from heat and mix in heavy whipping cream and salt until smooth. Pour over the baked base.
  3. Melt chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and stir in remaining heavy cream until combined. Pour over the caramel layer evenly.
  4. Chill in the refrigerator for at least four hours before slicing into squares.
